PNG to WebP

WebP keeps transparency like PNG and is usually much smaller, which suits logos, icons and product photos on a website.

How it works

Step by step

  1. Choose or drop your PNG images. They stay on your phone or computer.
  2. Each one is converted to WebP, right in your browser. Move the quality slider to trade size for detail.
  3. Download the file, or one ZIP when you convert several. Up to 5 at a time are free.

Questions

Is the transparent background kept?

Yes. WebP supports transparency, so clear areas stay clear.

Will it look the same?

At high quality, yes for photos and most graphics. For screenshots with small text, use 90 or more, or keep the PNG.

What if my browser cannot save WebP?

Some browsers can open WebP but cannot save it. If yours is one of them, the tool says so and saves PNG instead. Chrome, Edge and Firefox all save WebP.

Is it free?

Yes. Up to 5 images at a time are free, with no sign-up and no watermark. To convert any number in one go, get a one-time 24-hour image converter pass (US$1.49).
