How it works

  1. Choose a photo. It opens here in your browser and is never uploaded.
  2. Pick a shape such as 1:1, 16:9 or passport 35 × 45 mm. Drag inside the box to move it, and drag a corner to resize it.
  3. Type an output width and height if your form asks for one, then download. A JPG stays a JPG and a PNG stays a PNG.

Questions

How do I crop a photo to an exact size like 200 × 230 pixels?

Type 200 in Output width and 230 in Output height. The box locks to that shape, so the photo is not stretched, and the download is exactly 200 × 230 pixels.

Which shape should I use for a passport-size photo?

Passport 35 × 45 mm fits most passport and exam photos, and 2 × 2 inch fits US visa and passport photos. Both fill in the pixel size at 300 DPI, which you can change to what your form asks for.

Will cropping lower the quality?

Only the part outside the box is removed. A JPG is saved again at quality 92, which looks the same to the eye, and a PNG is saved without any loss.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Cropping runs in your browser, so the photo never leaves your phone or computer.
