Questions
Does it give Unicode Hindi text?
Yes. The text comes out as standard Unicode Devanagari, so you can paste it into Word, Google Docs, WhatsApp or an online form.
Can it read a page in Hindi and English?
Pick the language most of the page uses. Hindi mode reads Devanagari best and may misread English words, so for a mostly English page choose English.
Is it free?
Yes. Reading one image at a time is free and unlimited. To read several images in one go and save one .txt file with a heading for each image, get a one-time 24-hour image to text pass (US$1.49).
Are my images uploaded?
No. The text is read inside your browser by Tesseract, an open-source OCR engine. The engine and the language data download from jsDelivr the first time. Your images never leave your device.
