HEIC to JPG

iPhones save photos as HEIC, which most exam, job and visa portals reject. Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac can read HEIC, so there this page turns them into JPG on your device. Chrome, Edge and Firefox cannot read HEIC, so in those the tool shows you other quick ways.

How it works

Step by step

  1. Open this page in Safari on your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
  2. Choose your HEIC photos. They stay on your device, and up to 5 at a time are free.
  3. Download the JPG, or one ZIP for several photos, and upload it to your form.

Questions

Why does HEIC not open in Chrome or on Windows?

Chrome, Edge and Firefox do not include a HEIC decoder, and this site never uploads photos to convert them on a server. Safari has one built in, so use Safari on an Apple device.

How do I make my iPhone save JPG instead?

Open Settings › Camera › Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG. Photos you already took stay HEIC.

How else can I get a JPG from my iPhone?

Email the photo to yourself from the Photos app, which usually attaches it as a JPG. To copy photos to a Windows PC by cable, set Settings › Photos › Transfer to Mac or PC to Automatic and they arrive as JPG. Or AirDrop the photo to a Mac and convert it here in Safari.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Safari decodes the HEIC and the JPG is made inside your browser. Nothing leaves your device.
